The SportZ AllStarZ Story 

 

Frustrated by the types of sports programs and development opportunities available to his own children, in 2004 Founder and President Gerald Moore started SportZ AllStarZ, a family owned business that offers year-round sports programming for children in Middle and Elementary Schools. 

 

Living with his family in the greater Rochester area since 1992, Gerald was a Project Manager in the IT industry before dedicating himself full-time to the company.

 

After months of research and planning, SportZ AllStarZ began to deliver sports programs that addressed the underserved fundamental and developmental needs of children in northern Oakland County. 

 

By choosing sports without a solid development program already in place locally, and by focusing on teaching the rules and fundamentals of the games, the SportZ AllStarZ experience emphasizes skill development for all of its players, along with experienced coaching and MHSAA officiating.

 

Starting off, SportZ AllStarZ was, and still is, the definition of a “family-run business”.  Gerald’s wife Dana did everything from fold team jerseys to keep the books.  Oldest son Christian served as scorekeeper and timekeeper at league games while oldest daughter, Autumn, managed the concession stand.  In the near future, Brayden, the youngest daughter, will begin to contribute to the family’s operation.

 

With a storefront grand opening, marketing with the Rochester Chamber of Commerce, in newspaper ads, sending out mailers, and through word of mouth, SportZ AllStarZ first appealed to families with similar, frustrating experiences and to those families that wanted to try something new. 

 

What makes SportZ AllStarZ unique is that we only focus on sports.  This comes from a true passion to see that every child that participates with us reaches their maximum potential.  This growth and development creates a positive experience for each child and is nurtured over the course of each of our unique programs. 

 

In addition to our programs, we also provide complete uniforms; reward our participants with medals and champions with trophies; and showcase the talents of each child with our “SportZ AllStarZ Break”.  And for Parents, SportZ AllStarZ pioneered “One and Done Saturdays” which combines practice time and games into one convenient day.

 

By providing a quality product and being responsive to the needs of parents and children since 2004, the business has now tripled and currently features Volleyball, Basketball and Flag Football Leagues and Camps.  Consistent with the original intention to be a major part of any community SportZ AllStarZ operates in, SportZ AllStarZ has formed a wide variety of business partnerships that create additional value that benefits families and the community.

 

By partnering with Rochester Community Schools Enrichment and the RCS Foundation, SportZ AllStarZ has donated tens of thousands of dollars back to the local Rochester community which benefits families and significantly impacts children.
