Age /
Grade Requirements
SportZ
AllStarZ
leagues
are based on a combination of age and grade.
These age and grade requirements are in place
to ensure the safety of our participants, guarantee
a “level” playing field, and address participants
whose grade may not be reflective of their age
(i.e., participants who may have either “repeated”
or “skipped” a grade).
Below are the leagues along with the grade
and age requirements:
| League | Grade(s) | Age Requirement | Age Cut-off Date |
|
|
|||
|
Rookie League
|
K – 1st | U7 (6 & Under) | September 1st |
|
Apprentice League
|
2nd – 3rd | U9 (8 & Under) | September 1st |
|
Mid-Junior League
|
4th – 5th | U11 (10 & Under) | September 1st |
|
Junior League
|
6th – 7th | U13 (12 & Under) | September 1st |
|
Veteran League
|
7th – 8th | U14 (13 & Under) | September 1st |
Participants are allowed to “play-up”, where appropriate. For example, an 8 year old, 3rd grade participant (who would normally compete in the Apprentice League) is allowed to compete in the Mid-Junior League with parent / guardian consent.
Additionally, a 7 year old 1st grade participant is allowed to compete in the Rookie League as long as they are 6 on September 1st of the current school year.
Parents
/ guardians are responsible for ensuring that their
children meet the grade / age requirements for each
league.
SportZ AllStarZ
reserves the right to request a participant’s birth
certificate to ensure eligibility.
